Monkeys, lemurs, otters, sloth... oh my!
Otter Water Play + Painting
You splash in the water with Asian Small-Clawed Otters — one of the most interactive exotic animal experiences available in Texas. These small, highly social otters are curious and playful by nature, and guests wade right in alongside them for 45 minutes of hands-on fun.
The second half of the encounter brings a one-of-a-kind keepsake: the otters paint on canvas, and you take the finished artwork home. Each piece is completely original, made by the animals during your visit.
Sloth Encounter + Kiss
Forty-five minutes of unhurried, up-close time with one of the most sought-after animals in exotic wildlife experiences. Sloths are slow, calm, and endlessly fascinating — and at Funky Monkey Ranch, guests get genuine proximity that most people never experience outside of a wildlife documentary.
The encounter includes the signature sloth kiss: a guest holds a small piece of food in their mouth, and the sloth takes it directly from them. It is optional, but it tends to be the moment guests talk about most.
Primate Playtime
The baby room at Funky Monkey Ranch is where young spider monkeys, capuchins, squirrel monkeys and baby lemurs spend their days playing, exploring, and interacting with people they trust. During this 45-minute encounter, guests step into that space with them.
The primates safely climb on guests, play freely, and engage the way young primates naturally do — curious, energetic, and completely at ease. There is no barrier and no distance. It is the kind of close-contact exotic animal encounter that is rare in Texas or anywhere else.

Dive deeper than our standard exotic animal tours by spending intimate, quality time with your favorite exotic animal species here at the ranch. Join us for one of our exclusive animal experiences at our private exotic zoo in the Burleson, Texas area. Only 15 minutes south of Fort Worth, we are centrally located for a quick visit from the DFW metroplex.
Whether you want to splash around with the otters, take it slow with the sloth or have playtime with the baby primates, these specialized exotic animal experiences make for a memory of a lifetime.
We offer animal encounters by appointment only.
This private animal experience near Dallas–Fort Worth is available for one to six guests and runs 45 minutes. Groups stay small so every guest has real, unrushed time with the animal.

Do we get to hold the animals?
Yes! Our ruffed lemurs are cuddlers. Fisher and Ocean, our asian small clawed otters love to play. Our ball pythons are one of the most docile reptiles for handholding. We cannot guarantee holding any of the monkeys, they decide who they go to. Handling primates is based on trust that is earned. They will happily eat from your hand and let you pet them.
Can we take photos?
Of course! We encourage photos and videos with your favorite exotics. Don’t forget to tag us on social media if you share! @funkymonkeyranch We will also have a photo backdrop set up to encourage capturing your memories.
Can we bring our own food for the animals?
We will provide all the fresh fruit and veggies for handfeeding. If you just love to give or have a home garden, the animals love just about all produce and Gerber baby puffs as a treat.
If I can't make it, can I get a refund?
Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds. All the proceeds from our private tours go back into the animals, especially the rescued and re-homed spider monkeys. We offer a limited number of private tours and reserve your tour time upon booking.
We do allow a one time rescheduling of your private tour if you contact us within seven days of your tour date.
